I have not yet finished my current grade and can only provide the mid-year school report. Should I upload my school reports from last year and the year before?
Yes, please upload the most recent transcripts that you have at this moment. Make sure to upload both the original and translated copies of the transcripts.
I am in grade 11th at school. Am I eligible to apply for UWC Afghanistan this year?
You can apply via UWC Afghanistan if you meet the age requirement for this year. Your school grade does not matter as long as you are born between August 1, 2006, and August 15, 2010.
I am just a few months/days younger/older than the age requirement for this year’s entry. Can I still apply for UWC Afghanistan Entry 2025?
Unfortunately, you are not eligible if you do not exactly fall under this year’s age requirement. You must be born between August 1, 2006, and August 15, 2010.
I am an Afghan refugee/asylum seeker. Am I eligible to apply for UWC Afghanistan Entry 2025?
You can only apply to UWC via the National Committee of Afghanistan if you are living inside Afghanistan or you have refugee status in one of the neighbouring countries of Afghanistan in the region. If you do not meet these criteria, then please apply to UWC via the National Committee of your host country.
I am an Afghan girl and I have not received formal education for the last three years. Can I still apply? What documents should I submit?
Yes, you can apply to UWC Afghanistan, and please submit the latest transcripts that you have. We encourage our applicants to submit any documents or certifications that indicate their online learning engagement over the last three years.
My date of birth is different in my passport than in my Tazkira. Which date of birth should I use?
The only acceptable date of birth is the one on your passport.
I am interested in a specific UWC school/college. Can I apply for my preferred UWC school/college?
At this stage of the application, you cannot choose a specific school or college. There are a lot of factors for the National Committee to consider when assigning students to each UWC school/college. We cannot guarantee that you will be nominated to your preferred UWC school/college.
My Afghan passport expires in less than one year. Can I submit my current passport for the application process?
You can submit your current passport, however, we strongly recommend that you extend your passport or obtain a new one as soon as possible. If you are shortlisted for the next stages of the application process, then you should have a valid passport for at least two years to travel abroad.
What does the UWC scholarship cover?
UWC Afghanistan scholarships are need based, and they could cover up to the full cost of two years at a UWC school and college. Full costs include tuition fees for two years, room and board, health insurance, travel costs and other costs as needed.
Who reads and assesses our applications?
UWC Afghanistan National Committee is responsible for the selection and nomination of Afghan students. The National Committee is composed of more than 30 volunteer alumni who will collectively assess your applications and interviews.
Do I need any standardised tests or certificates for UWC Afghanistan?
No, we do not require any standardised English language proficiency tests or any other certificate. However, students do need to have intermediate proficiency in English and you can submit any additional certificates or documents that you have.
The date of birth stated in my passport does not meet the eligibility criteria but my real date of birth meets. Can I still be eligible?
No, if your date of birth which is in your passport does not meet the requirement, you are ineligible to apply.
Do I need to translate my Dari and Pashto certificates and awards in English to submit them?
No, you do not need to translate them.
Do I need to submit only the English translation of my school transcript?
You need to submit both the original and translated copies of your school transcripts.
When I registered on the application portal, UWC Afghanistan applications did not show up.
Please go to your profile and put your date of birth in the eligibility section. If your date of birth is between August 1, 2006, and August 15, 2010, you will be eligible for the 2025 entry and the application for the Afghanistan National Committee will show up. Age does not meet this requirement, you will not be eligible for the 2025 entry and the application will not show.
Can a family member or friend write my non-academic reference letter?
Yes, your recommendation letter can be written by anyone who’s not your academic teacher. Ideally, it should be people who know you outside the school, or you have worked with in the past. However, non-academic reference letters from teachers are also acceptable in special circumstances.
